The Lampstand

In the Holy Place, the Lampstand was the only source of light. Without it, everything else God had provided was still there, but it could not be seen. That picture points us to Jesus, who said, “I am the light of the world.” We do not create the Light; the Light comes to us. We are called to wake up, follow Him, let the Holy Spirit tend what has grown dim, and keep our lamps ready. Then Jesus turns to His followers and says, “You are the light of the world.” We shine because He shines. We carry His light so others can see God. Arise, shine, for your Light has come.
